DP Technology Releases ESPRIT 2006 for Machine Tools

CAMARILLO, California, December 2, 2005 - Built upon the success of its previous product releases, DP Technology Corp. is proud to announce the immediate availability of its latest CAM software, ESPRIT 2006. Featuring functionality that emphasizes higher cutting speeds, longer tool life and suitability to increasingly complex geometry, ESPRIT 2006 is comprehensive in its ability to handle today’s most advanced machine tools and demanding machining applications.

ESPRIT is described as a high-performance computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) system for a full range of machine tool applications. ESPRIT delivers powerful full-spectrum programming for 2–5 axis milling, 2–22 axis turning, 2–5 axis wire EDM, multitasking mill-turn machining, and B-axis machine tools.

Each year, through events such as ESPRIT World Conference, DP connects with its end-users and resellers to assure ESPRIT product development is focused on the needs of ESPRIT customers and markets. As a result DP is convinced this release will be well accepted by users, far exceed any competitive products, and push ESPRIT into a new and higher category of excellence in CAM software.

“The enhancements made for 2006 significantly increase the performance of ESPRIT,” says Chuck Mathews, vice president of DP Technology. “CNC Programmers will find ESPRIT meets their needs better than ever with all the new features designed and added as a result of direct customer involvement in the development process. ESPRIT 2006 is another demonstration of DP’s passion for excellence and commitment to provide CNC programmers with the most powerful CAM software ever.”

The new developments for ESPRIT 2006 are highlighted in a 150 page manual entitled, What’s New in 2006. This new manual will be shipped to all North American customers when they update to this latest version. The following features identify a few of the more notable developments for ESPRIT 2006:

Enhanced Wire EDM machining cycles

For 2006 ESPRIT offers enhanced feature recognition and machining cycles for EDM customers. These enhancements are one step along the road for DP to meet its vision for EDM programming; no prints, no dimensions, just a solid model with automated programming. The 2006 version now offers new path optimization and operation sorting, enhanced retract moves for 2-axis and 4-axis contouring, expanded strategies for 2-axis contouring and new cut off options for 2-axis contouring.

New Turning cycles

The latest developments within ESPRIT 2006 include new grooving cycles which have been added to support advances in cutting tool geometry and machine tool design, including machines capable of turning while utilizing a B-axis. These new grooving cycles offer the following key functionalities: any-tool orientation utilizing a B-axis, new pre-finish options, expanded finish pass control—enhanced for NC compensation, optimized step-over calculations, additional roughing patterns, and support for casting stock.

New Rotary Milling Cycles

ESPRIT 2006 includes a new 4-axis wrap pocketing machining cycle which allows users to easily machine in 4-axis directly from a 3D solid model. This new capability supplements the wrap-contouring cycle introduced in ESPRIT 2005. Both of these machining cycles provide the programmer with the choice of working with flat 2D or 3D representations of the work piece. Roughing, semi-finishing and finishing, including dedicated wall-finish passes and floor-finish passes, can now be combined in a single operation, and each type of pass allows the selection of a different cutting tool. Tool path can be produced on the OD or the ID of cylindrical stock, utilizing one or two rotary axes, and all tool paths are displayed in 3D for greater clarity.

Expanded Traditional Milling

Higher cutting speeds and longer tool life are the result of the expanded capabilities for traditional milling with ESPRIT 2006. This version includes new tool path options, which maintain constant material removal rates throughout the entire machining process. The new machining options are available for roughing (pocketing), semi-finishing and finishing (contouring). Other milling additions include expanded options for open pockets and bottom-up machining for operations such as back-boring.

New Report Generator

ESPRIT’s new Report Generator creates machining reports in both HTML and PDF format that provide complete shop floor information for milling, turning, and wire EDM machining processes. Reports contain information about the machine, the tools, the part, operations, and the NC program. In addition, each page in the report displays a full-color image showing how the part should look at each stage of the machining process. Report creation is based on HTML and XML templates which are fully customizable to suit each individual shop’s preferences.

New NC Editor

The ESPRIT NC editor was rebuilt from the ground up for 2006. This new NC Editor has a friendly interface and includes a tabbed file manager for a better view. The NC Editor opens automatically when NC code is generated to give users an immediate view of the code after it is processed. The new tabbed view makes it easy to navigate and view several NC files at once. An asterisk symbol next to a file name makes it easy to see which files have been changed, but not saved.

Automated 3D Milling

For the 3D programmer ESPRIT 2006 offers a new automated approach to defining machining boundaries thereby reducing part programming time. New slope machining options have been added to ESPRIT 3D milling cycles that let users optimize finishing passes by part or by area without defining additional boundaries. ESPRIT can now calculate areas to machine based on a user-defined slope angle and automatically create boundaries to restrict the tool path.

Enhanced 3D Free-Form Machining Cycles

FreeForm 3D machining with ESPRIT 2006 now benefits from an enhanced Z-level finish cycle for quicker programming, short cycle time and increased part quality. Programmers now benefit from the power to combine multiple types of machining strategies into a single operation for the best possible surface finish on complex surfaces. Users have the option to machine the entire part or selectively machine vertical or horizontal areas with an expanded number of options for tool motion pattern that are now available for horizontal surfaces.

Electronic Sensor Technology's zNose(R) Deployed by China Heilongjiang Environmental

Electronic Sensor Technology (OTCBB: ESNR), a leading provider of innovative Homeland Security solutions, announced today that its zNose(R) has been deployed by China's Heilongjiang Environmental Protection Agency (HEPA) to test the contaminated water in northeastern China caused by a recent chemical plant explosion.

The zNose(R), which is an electronic sensor device that can capture and analyze nearly any odor, fragrance or chemical vapor within ten seconds, is the only portable detector capable of measuring the polluted water containing benzene, aniline and nitro-benzene to low parts per billion sensitivity in a near real-time speed of less than 10 seconds. Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang, suffered a five-day water shutdown after a blast at a PetroChina plant upstream released 100 tons of chemicals into the Songhua River, which provides most of the city's drinking water.

Beijing R&D Technology, which recently signed a distribution agreement with Electronic Sensor Technology for the zNose(R), is providing technical assistance to officials of HEPA. As a result of successful testing to date, HEPA has elected to expand the use of the zNose(R) to further test water that may be affected in cities and areas surrounding the Songhua River, in conjunction with local EPA engineers.

"In addition to playing a key role in security and defense applications, the zNose(R) has proven to be a highly useful tool in environmental disasters such as this one," said Matthew S. Collier, President and CEO of Electronic Sensor. "Through our solid relationship with Beijing R&D, along with the successful use of the zNose(R) in this and other applications in the region, the Chinese market represents a highly lucrative opportunity for the Company in the future." The week in technology: Microsoft gets classified

And unlike Google, which has played down its ambitions for Base despite many excited bloggers attributing grand ambitions to the new database, Microsoft made no bones about its intention to become a major force in online classified advertising.

Microsoft said its service, code-named Fremont after a Seattle market, is similar to the popular Craigslist.org classified service. On Craigslist, anyone can post items for sale or available jobs, apartments, or houses, as well as other services and events they’d like to broadcast to the public. In turn, users can search these product listings and connect with the sellers, companies, or organizers directly through the service.

The service has reportedly been available in test form to Microsoft employees since last week, and is expected to be unveiled in a couple of weeks from now.
Unsurprisingly, the move drew ire from bloggers, with many accusing the company they love to hate of copycat-ism - although Microsoft insisted that it had been working on the idea since early this year.

“We started this before anyone knew about Google Base. Having seen what Google Base is doing, I don’t think they were aiming for a classifieds service. They don’t have a taxonomy of listings like we do. They see it as an open database,” said Garry Wiseman, MSN product unit manager.
For those not talking Microspeak, one blogger has been kind enough to provide a definition of taxonomy.

Mr Wiseman hopes to release a test version of Windows Live Classifieds to the public in the next month, with the full service going live in the first half of next year.
Not all bloggers came out against the service. Some noted that Fremont offered a degree of user control over the content posted on the service that could make it a more attractive prospect than Base, or even Craiglist.

The key difference is that Fremont will be integrated with other MSN services, such as its instant messaging service. This will allow the poster to control who sees their listings, from everyone to just a select group of people on the MSN Messenger buddy list. So if you’d rather give your friends first dibs at some hot concert tickets rather than flog them to strangers, the service lets you.

Blogger Charlene Li said use of buddly lists would give Fremont an additional “social” element with users, for example, organising second-hand clothes swaps.

She also said Microsoft’s classifieds interface was familiar and easy to use - resembling Craigslist in many respects - but was unsure whether everyone would be able to grasp it.
“Don’t get me wrong - I love Google Base because of the audacious potential it represents in terms of creating new content for the web. But in terms of a classifieds service, it will take a lot of application development to get it to the point where the average Joe will be able to use it.”
Another blogger concurred: “I can’t see my mum being able to figure out how it works.”
Only time will tell which of the services internet users will take to their hearts.

Browser wars stoked by new Firefox

A new version of web browser Firefox sparked an ecstatic reception from internet geeks who have been singing its praises ever since the free service was launched by non-profit Mozilla Corporation last year.
“Good show, mozilla.com! It’s just awesome, TOTALLY AWESOME!!!,” one enthusiast exclaimed.

Firefox 1.5 - download free-of-charge here - boasts faster browsing, quicker updates and better blocking of pop-up advertising. It also offers improved security - checking daily for patches, downloading them automatically and prompting users to install them - and makes it easier to sign up for RSS feeds. Click here for the new version’s full specifications.
Firefox has grown in popularity thanks to a clean, uncluttered interface, its distinctive tabbed pages accessible via a single mouse click and faster web page navigation on the back of fewer nuisance ads.

Firefox 1.0 has been downloaded 100m times and won almost 10 per cent of the browser market, dominated by Microsoft’s Internet Explorer - a new version of which, IE7, is expected next year.

Being an open source program, the new version of Firefox was developed and tested with the help of thousands of volunteer programmers since a beta version was released at the beginning of November. Mozilla is now planning a regular release schedule with 2.0 and 3.0 versions expected in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

In his review of 1.5, Paul Taylor, the FT technology columnist, described it as “very solid and reliable - even when it encounters a website optimised specifically for IE”. He went on to bemoan the “powerful force” of inertia which ties so many users to Explorer.
Firefox users were almost universally favourable towards the new version, although a few party poopers warned that IE7 would incorporate Firefox’s most popular features like tabbed browsing.

“You may not like the might of Microsoft, but when they release something, you should fear the userbase outreach of the Microsoft coverage worldwide. Firefox will lose a lot of home users with IE7,” one CNET reader said.

But another replied that Explorer still had a long way to go to catch up.
“IE’s biggest handicap has always been the fact that it’s code is integrated into the operating system. Firefox sits on top of the OS lessening the opportunities for code hacks, worm, trojan or virus attacks.”

When Microsoft releases a new Explorer we may be in for the most heated browser wars since the Microsoft/Netscape battle of the 90s.

Seamless Technology Inc. Announces an Agreement to Acquire Online Development Associates

Seamless Technology Inc.'s (OTC: SLSX) wholly own subsidiary,
MerchandiZer Software Inc., announced today the signing of a letter of
intent to acquire Online Development Associates and the addition of a
control panel feature for search engine optimization of ecommerce
websites. The new Online Development Department of MerchandiZer is
expected to add to the exiting revenue of Seamless Technology an
additional $1,334,933.00 in 2006.

As a result of its recently signed agreement with a 90-day option to
acquire Online Development Associates (www.webpage-development.com),
Merchandizer Software, Inc. (www.Merchandizer.com) unveiled plans for
a two-pronged answer to the search engine placement dilemma and a
creative new component to their online services portfolio -- the
Office of Online Development ("OOD"). Software development began
immediately following the signing of yesterday's agreement on an
integrated software solution and a stand-alone version to bring the
two spheres of successful ecommerce together for MerchandiZer
merchants -- cutting-edge ecommerce software and effective, ethical
website design and optimization for better performance in search
engines.

The initial product improvement will be available exclusively to
MerchandiZer existing merchants and future clients as a totally
integrated plug-in package of uncomplicated yet effective tools.
Focused and crafted to optimize a client's website's pages for maximum
exposure in the search results, these tools are precise and are based
on current search engine criteria (algorithms) and the rapid
amendments to these algorithms. The second implementation of the new
software will be a stand-alone version of the product and will be
available to all ecommerce websites no matter what shopping cart
system or hosting setup is used. Already bringing stunning results,
the current suite of MerchandiZer products are paying off for many of
MerchandiZer's clients, such as www.gotoforms.com which has over
40,000 products that are not only indexed in the search engines, but
also placing very well in the organic results on the search results
pages (SERPs). The agreement with Online Development means that these
existing features will be greatly expanded and improved in 2006,
debuting early in the year with an intuitive user interface and
available personalized Online Development services. The MerchandiZer
Software, Inc., / Online Development Associates agreement enables
MerchandiZer Software, Inc, to keep abreast of the rapid changes in
technology in the online marketing arenas.

Mr. Krister Martinez, President of the MerchandiZer Software
subsidiary, in announcing the agreement to acquire Online Development
Associates and the joint development of a proprietary control panel
feature for online marketing and search engine optimization, stated:
"We have been working very hard in the last few months to build on our
award-winning software's reputation by adding an Online Marketing
Control Panel feature to our software suite. Unlike our competitors,
our software has integrated marketing tools that any merchant can use,
and allows clients, like Gotoforms and many others, to have better
exposure not only in the search engines organic search results, but
also to use other online marketing strategies such as visitor
categorization for better targeted campaigns. We are now focusing on
our marketing development to bring the features of MerchandiZer and
its Online Marketing Control Panel feature to a broadening client base
in the next few months. This new proprietary Online Marketing Control
Panel feature should allow the Company to achieve additional gross
revenues of $1,334,933.00 in 2006."

ABOUT SEAMLESS TECHNOLGY INC.:

Seamless Technology is a public holding company for Internet-based
technology companies. It presently owns two established technology
companies with excellent industry name recognition and reputations.
The Company has located other synergistic businesses that it intends
to acquire prior to the end of 2005.

The first subsidiary owned by Seamless is Pinneast Inc.
(www.pinneast.com), a eleven-year-old e-Learning services provider,
which is one of the only e-Learning companies that survived the
shakeout caused by the bursting of the Internet bubble, because of its
large government and Fortune 500 clients. The Company will recognize
gross revenues in 2005 of a minimum of $1.4 million with an EBITDA of
approximately $400,000. The Company's projected revenues should
increase to a minimum of $2.265 million in 2006 and $3.3 million in
2007, with projected EBITDA of $823,000 in 2006 and $1.347,402 in
2007. The Company has achieved a sustainable level of profitability
due to the multi-year contracts that it has with its clients.
Furthermore, the Company has a present order backlog exceeding $1.3m,
including 2 contracts from the US Army. Other customers of Pinneast
include Dow Chemical, Wachovia, Volvo Trucks, Delta Airlines and
Johnson and Johnson, among others. The Company offers web based course
management, learning management systems, LMS hosting and e-Learning
technical support. Unlike its competitors, who offer a product that is
one size fits all, Pinneast is capable of designing e-Learning
products that are tailored to the specific needs of each client.

The second subsidiary is MerchandiZer Inc. (www.merchandizer.com),
which is a seven-year-old eCommerce software company and service
provider that provides end to end online services for small to
medium-sized companies that want to expand their marketing to the
Internet sales channel. The Company's clients number approximately
3,000, with such well-known names as Dole Plantations, Total Discount
Vitamins, Go-To Forms and Kids Customs. The Company's software has
been awarded the PC Magazine's Editor's Choice Award as tops in its
field. The key feature of the software is that it allows users to add
customized design features, as opposed to most of its competitors that
require that the merchant/client have a store that looks like all
other stores utilizing the same software. MerchandiZer keeps its
software up-to-date with the latest advances in Internet marketing,
and its ecommerce software has an exclusive Internet marketing feature
built into its software that allows the merchants/clients to optimize
their entire catalog and categories for search engines, and achieve
very high ranking, including the first and second pages in the search
engines, such as Google and Yahoo! MerchandiZer also provides a wide
range of templates that enable web designers to customize sites.

This allows merchants/clients, without design flair, to build a
respectable looking eCommerce site by simply picking pre-packaged
design themes, and then choosing from the 30 built-in templates
designed to suit every catalog layout requirement. The Company also
aids its clients with web promotion and online marketing services,
including Search Engine Optimization that increases the presence of
the site on the web, and thereby attracts more customers to the
client's site. The Company will recognize gross revenues in 2005 of
approximately $200,000 with an EBITDA of $50,000. The Company is
projecting gross revenues in 2006 of $1,800,000 increasing to gross
revenues of $2,572,000 in 2007, with a projected EBITDA of $723,385 in
2006 and $1,470,000 in 2007.

Seamless has consolidated gross assets of over $4,400,000 and net
shareholders' equity of $3,100,000. The Company's consolidated
revenues have increased from $388,000 in 2004, and a loss of
($451,000) to 2005 gross revenues of $1,600,000 and an EBITDA of
$350,000. The Company, without considering the imminent strategic
acquisitions mentioned above, is projected to increase gross revenues
to $4,065,000 in 2006 and $4,873,000 in 2007, with projected EBITDA of
approximately $1,366,000 in 2006 and 2,500,000 in 2007.

Community care working, says Mental Health Foundation

The Mental Health Foundation is rejecting calls to lock away people
with mental illness, following two attacks involving mental health
patients this week.

One patient was shot and wounded by police on Monday in West Auckland,
after allegedly stabbing a man to death and injuring two others.

It has emerged that a man arrested over an axe attack on an elderly
man near Arthur's Pass last night is also a mental health patient.

Foundation chief executive Judi Clements said such tragic incidents
highlight the need to examine the situation, to see if anything could
have been done better.

Ms Clements said New Zealand research in 2000 found that the
proportion of homicides by people with serious mental illness had
fallen since 1970, while the proportion committed by the general
population had increased.

This had come at a time when there had been a transition from
institutional mental health care to community care.

"Research has found that drug and alcohol problems are associated with
greater risk of violent offending than mental illness, and a
combination of the two can be problematic," she said.

"This highlights the need for good quality, accessible services in
these areas."

She said some media coverage of crimes committed by mental health
patients could cause public fear and antagonism towards those who may
use mental health services, and a grasp for instant solutions.

There had been major improvements in mental health services and
treatment in New Zealand, she said, including good quality community
based treatments, which have better outcomes for individuals and whole
communities.

Charlie Norcross, father of Robert Norcross who was wounded in the
attack at his fishing supplies shop in Henderson, yesterday called for
mental health patients to be kept in hospitals.

"The Government in their wisdom have just decided they'd save some
money and close them down and let them drift around in society," he
said.

"None of us are safe. You could go down the road shopping and anything
could happen."

Supreme Court Abortion Case Hinges on Health Exception

The U.S. Supreme Court has heard its first abortion-related case in
five years. It involves New Hampshire's parental notification law, and
whether that law is too strict.

The main argument by pro-choice forces was this: New Hampshire's law
does not provide an exception to protect the health of a teenager
getting an abortion. They made it sound like that could lead to the
death of young women in a medical emergency.

"We believe that any law that delays a doctor from treating a patient
in a medical emergency, does not protect that teen from harm," said
New Hampshire State Representative Terie Norelli.

But New Hampshire's Attorney General Kelly Ayotte pointed out courts
have so stretched the meaning of "health," it can excuse almost any
abortion for almost any reason. "General health concerns can include
anything – mental health... it can just include broad health
concerns," Ayotte said.

It can even include a danger to the girl's so-called "emotional
health" from worrying about what will happen if she doesn't get the
abortion.

One other major point of contention for the justices involved the
law's bypass clause which allows a judge rather than the girl's
parents to be notified about her abortion.

Justice Stephen Breyer worried judges can not always be reached in an
emergency. "It's two in the morning and there's, you know, one of
those things, 'leave a message,'" Breyer said.

But Justice Antonin Scalia suggested New Hampshire could solve that
problem by having a designated on-call "abortion judge." Scalia
explained, "And he can be reached anytime, anywhere. It takes 30
seconds to place a phone call."

But parents outside the Court pointed out what was getting ignored in
all this talk of judges and health was the very heart of why most
states have parental notification laws: parents want to know and need
to know if their child's health is in danger.

Charmaine Yoest of the Family Research Council told CBN News, "Eighty
percent of Americans say that they support parental notification laws.
That includes people who support abortion. Parents who are pro-choice
still want to know if their daughter is going to through a procedure
that could threaten her life."

How the Court decides this case may be as important as what it
decides. Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, a fairly reliable pro-choice
vote, was on the bench to hear the case. But she will almost surely
have been replaced by Judge Samuel Alito, a likely pro-life vote, when
the Court makes its ruling. It will then be up to the Court whether or
not to let Alito have a vote, and his vote could well decide the case.

NFIB survey: Georgia small business owners still bullish on state

Business conditions in Georgia rank among the nation's best, but
optimism from small-business owners faded this quarter, according to
the Georgia Small-Business Conditions report published today by the
National Federation of Independent Business/Georgia.

A net 46 percent (positive percent minus negative percent) of
respondents in Georgia said business conditions are "good," lower than
September's net 52 percent. A net 14 percent of respondents said
business conditions are "improving," down from a net 25 percent in
September. A net 44 percent said sales are "good," down from a net 52
percent in September. And a net 28 percent said profits are "good,"
down from a net 35 percent last quarter.

In addition, 72 percent of respondents are "satisfied" with the
direction Georgia is headed, while 22 percent said they are
"dissatisfied."

"Business conditions in Georgia remain very good, but there are signs
momentum is shifting in a post-Katrina environment," said Melody
Harrison, NFIB/Georgia state director. "Georgia continues to compare
favorably to peer states in the Southeast, but many entrepreneurs are
feeling pinched in the short term by rising energy prices and pressure
on sales and profits."

Average prices small businesses paid for goods and services rose, as
59 percent reported increases in the most recent quarter, up from 56
percent in September. Sixty-seven percent said prospects over the next
few months look "good," down from 71 percent in September.

Asked to list the single most important problem facing their business
today, 15 percent said inflation and rising prices, 14 percent said
big-business competition, 13 percent said taxes, another 13 percent
said employee quality or costs, and 11 percent said insurance.

The NFIB Research Foundation provides policy-makers, media, educators,
small-business owners and other interested parties empirically based
information on small business and small-business owners. The
Foundation is affiliated with the Washington, D.C.-based National
Federation of Independent Business, the nation's largest small- and
independent-business advocacy organization.

The Georgia Small-Business Conditions report is compiled through a
random telephone survey of businesses that employ between one and 250
people in a for-profit business. The MRCGroup of Las Vegas conducts
the survey for the NFIB Research Foundation.

Motorola and PIPS Technology Expand License Plate Reader Technology

Car thieves, fugitivesand Amber Alert suspects are just some of the
targets of innovative license plate reader technology that Motorola,
Inc. (NYSE: MOT) and PIPS Technology are releasing to public safety
organizations nationwide.

The Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology installed in
police cars "reads" vehicle plates as they enter the view of a vehicle-mounted
or roadside infrared camera, and checks them against a database for nearly
instantaneous identification. The system runs continuously, automatically
capturing images of license plates with a camera that works in nearly every
lighting condition.

"This technology is completely automated and built into the car's
operation, so it requires no action on the part of the police officer to
capture the plate numbers and have them verified. It is not something the
officer has to initiate," said Steve Most, Multimedia Business Director,
Motorola radio systems division. Previous technologies required officers to
manually type in a plate number and request a database search for each number,
which can be time consuming and prone to errors.

"The ALPR system gives public safety officers quick access to information
about the vehicles around them. This helps increase their security and safety
as well as that of the general driving population. It also makes the police
officer more effective," Most added.

Before bringing the ALPR system into Motorola's product portfolio,
Motorola worked with PIPS to further ruggedize its license plate technology to
meet Motorola specifications for Mission Critical public safety communications
in the United States. PIPS, which was founded in the United Kingdom and has
its U.S. headquarters in Tennessee, has thousands of cameras in place
worldwide.

ALPR Technology Trial Nabs Wanted Suspects
The Pennsylvania State Police recently tested the ALPR system, which was
pivotal in an October arrest on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

During the first week of the test, a car was observed speeding on the
Pennsylvania Turnpike in Chester County. While the trooper was pulling up
behind the vehicle, its license plate was automatically "read" by the camera
mounted on the cruiser and processed through a database installed in the
trooper's onboard computer. The ALPR system showed the vehicle as stolen,
which alerted the trooper to call for backup before he even approached its
occupants.

The trooper then conducted a further check on the state database, which
showed that the three occupants of the vehicle in question were wanted in
connection with an earlier kidnapping and attempted murder case.

In addition to the public safety applications for ALPR, parking garage
operators can use the system to control access to their properties and help
prevent fraud. Each customer designs its own database to ensure the plates
are checked for the type of violators being sought. In addition to improving
security for any type of user, the ALPR system also can help generate revenue
by identifying plates with outstanding traffic tickets and overdue parking lot
fees.
"We are pleased that Motorola has selected our company to work with them
in bringing ALPR to a wider customer base," said Craig Cantrell, chief
operating officer of PIPS Technology, Inc., in Knoxville, Tenn. "This
strategic relationship further cements our position as a market leader in
license plate recognition system design and manufacture."

Next Inning Technology Research Previews Earnings for OmniVision Technologies; Examines Ala Carte TV Programming and Wirefree Devices

Next Inning Technology Research (http://www.nextinning.com), an
online subscription service focused on semiconductor and technology
stocks, announced today that it has provided subscribers with an
earnings preview of OmniVision Technologies (Nasdaq: OVTI - News).
Editor Paul McWilliams also examines ala carte TV programming, the
world of "wirefree" devices, and robust semiconductor sales in Asia --
highlighting such companies as Harmonic (Nasdaq: HLIT - News), Texas
Instruments (NYSE: TXN - News), and ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN -
News).

In his report, McWilliams wrote: "In our September SIA report covering
worldwide semiconductor sales, which was published at the market
opening on 10/31/05, we took a bullish stance on OVTI and noted that
the data suggested that OVTI was probably enjoying a
'better-than-expected quarter.' At the time we published this report,
OVTI was trading at $12.64 ... It has since continued to climb and now
trades for over $18 -- roughly a 50% gain since our report. This is
why I frequently emphasize that our monthly SIA reports ... are
excellent tools to prepare investors for earnings season. We nearly
always spot a stock or two where the market has failed to realize
either upside or downside potential."

In his coverage, McWilliams looked at the following topics:

-- What strategy would McWilliams suggest owners of OmniVision stock
employ ahead of the company's earnings?

-- How would ala carte cable offerings affect video delivery equipment
companies like Harmonic?

-- Why does McWilliams believe Texas Instruments is the best-positioned
company to benefit from the wirefree boom?

-- What led McWilliams to forecast the strong Q4 demand we're seeing in
semiconductors as far back as last June?

Founded in September 2002, Next Inning's model portfolio has returned
252% since its inception versus 84% for the Nasdaq.

Angiotech completes acquisition of Lifespan(R) vascular graft product line from Edwards Lifesciences

Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:ANPI)(NASDAQ:TSX:)(NASDAQ:ANP) today announced that it has completed its acquisition of the Lifespan(R) ePTFE vascular graft business, located in Laguna Hills, California, from Edwards Lifesciences Corporation (NYSE:EW) for $14 million in cash.

The transaction includes a distribution agreement with Edwards, whereby Edwards will continue to market and sell the existing Lifespan product line for a period of up to five years, and will be the exclusive distributor of Angiotech's Vascular Wrap(TM) paclitaxel-eluting mesh product, packaged in combination with Lifespan(R) vascular grafts, in the European Union for a period of up to two years from the receipt of European regulatory approval of the Vascular Wrap(TM) product.

Per the agreement, Angiotech retains all marketing and distribution rights with respect to any and all Vascular Wrap(TM) paclitaxel-eluting mesh related products in the United States, and has co-exclusive marketing and distribution rights with respect to the standalone Lifespan(R) product line in the United States.

Along with the presentation of positive safety data on November 17, 2005 at the 32nd annual VEITHsymposium(TM), Angiotech announced its plans to initiate the PREVAIL (Paclitaxel Releasing Extra-Vascular Anastamosis Implant & Lifespan(R) Graft) clinical trial in the first half of 2006. PREVAIL will be designed to assess the efficacy of Angiotech's pioneering Vascular Wrap(TM) product candidate implanted in combination with Lifespan(R) grafts for hemodialysis patients with renal disease who receive arteriovenous (AV) access implants.

The lives of patients with end-stage renal disease are highly dependent on access to their circulatory system in order to have their blood cleaned by hemodialysis. Today there are an estimated 4.4 million people in the U.S. with end-stage renal disease. Of these patients, 250,000 undergo hemodialysis treatment and roughly half receive of these patients have synthetic grafts for hemodialysis access. Synthetic grafts, however, have very disappointing patency rates due to the complication of scar formation in the graft. As a result of this scar formation, only 50% of these grafts remain open at one year and only 25% of these are still open at two years. The cost of these graft failures is also significant, with an added cost to the healthcare system of US$55,000. Today, AV-access failure is responsible for 20% of all hospitalizations of patients with end-stage renal disease in the US, and the morbidity related to this failure comes with an annual cost of over $1 billion per year.

Angiotech's Vascular Wrap(TM) paclitaxel-eluting mesh technology is designed to be used at the site where the AV-access graft is attached to the native vessel, which is where failure or blockage most typically occurs. The Vascular Wrap(TM) product incorporates Angiotech's pioneering paclitaxel technology, which is currently commercially available only to interventional cardiologists in the TAXUS(TM) paclitaxel-eluting coronary stent product line. The Vascular Wrap(TM) product is a biodegradable mesh implant incorporating Angiotech's paclitaxel technology in a novel biomaterial, and is designed specifically for use by the vascular surgeon, with the goal of mitigating scar formation and thereby potentially enhancing graft patency rates in AV-access patients.

Edwards Lifesciences, headquartered in Irvine, Calif., is focused on specific cardiovascular opportunities including heart valve disease, peripheral vascular disease and critical care technologies. The company's global brands, which are sold in approximately 100 countries, include Carpentier-Edwards, Cosgrove-Edwards, Fogarty, LifeStent, PERIMOUNT and Swan-Ganz. Additional company information can be found at http://www.edwards.com/.

Vancouver-based Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a specialty pharmaceutical company pioneering the combination of pharmaceutical compounds with medical devices and biomaterials to both create novel solutions for poorly addressed disease states and dramatically improve surgical outcomes. His mission: A cure for diabetes

At 14, he has raised $15,000 so far for diabetes research.

"What motivated me the most to do this volunteer work is my commitment to the cure," said Drew, who is a juvenile diabetic.

The Parsippany teenager is an American Diabetes Association leader and an advocate for the New Jersey Stem Cell Research Education Foundation. In addition, Drew is a juvenile arthritic.

Diagnosed with diabetes in fourth grade, he has spent the last three years fundraising for the American Diabetes Association and talking to others about the disease and about the benefits of stem cell research.

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce enough insulin, a hormone needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into the energy needed for daily life.

"No one knows the exact cause of diabetes. There are 20.8 million people in this country, or 7 percent of the population, who have it," Drew said. "Once I was diagnosed and got involved with the organization I wanted to do something to help, so I started by fundraising.

"First, I took part in America's Walk for Diabetes fundraiser in Morristown on Oct. 16 and raised $3,000. Before that, I sold (ADA) red bracelets and Beanie Babies to raise money for research," said Drew, a freshman at Barnstable Academy in Oakland.

The teenager also is the youth chair/youth advocate for the New Jersey Stem Cell Research and Education Foundation. "A member of the ADA invited me to a stem cell meeting because she knew I had written letters to the editor of my local paper advocating stem cell research," he explained.

Drew met the chief operating officer of the NJSCREF at the meeting, and he was invited to a roundtable discussion with the foundation members and advocates.

F-Secure acquires ROMmon and launches F-Secure Network Control to stop network abuse

F-Secure has announced a new weapon in its arsenal to help its ISP customers tackle network abuse, the F-Secure Network Control(TM) solution. F-Secure Network Control, a network-level appliance will target such zero-day network threats as spam bots and Denial of Service zombies, which typically cause ISPs bandwidth disruption, loss of revenue and over-burdened helpdesks.

Using advanced pattern recognition technology and deep packet inspection, the enterprise-grade appliance offers an effective tool against the unexpected threats that zero-day attacks pose.

In the present situation, ISPs are under pressure to maintain network integrity by manually monitoring computers that cause bandwidth disruption and closing these connections before starting a dialogue with the customer in question. This is both time-consuming and labour-intensive and fails to stem the influx of disruption-related calls to the helpdesk environment.

With network abuse continuously on the rise from such sources as targeted malware assaults to the use of dubious peer-to-peer network software, the challenges to ISPs are clear. The only true solution to the problem is a network-level solution that monitors traffic from end-users at the network edge automatically denying offending computers access to the network.

Using F-Secure Network Control, users identified as being the source of disruption receive a web page message guiding them to clean up their computer using an on-line scanner and Windows update. At the same time they are offered subscription to a security service thus increasing potential revenue streams to the ISP. At the point when the selected computers are no longer a source of disruption to network traffic, Internet access is automatically restored with the additional benefit that another customer is both aware of security threats and protected against further assaults.

The new technology comes through the acquisition of Finnish-based company, ROMmon. This small but fast growing and highly profitable company is presently the technology leader in its segment and already boasts a large client base in Finland with its technology monitoring a total of some 500,000 subscriber lines. ROMmon has been in business since 2001 and is presently based in Finland's technology hub, Espoo.

Brian Gregory, ISP business manager at F-Secure, said: “We are delighted with the acquisition of ROMmon and this new technology. We recognised ROMmon for their ISP expertise, advanced process automation and the impressive list of their existing satisfied customers. With their expertise on board, we believe that F-Secure can now address typical ISP headaches such as network abuse and helpdesk overload. At the same time, ISPs choosing this solution will be able to increase potential revenue streams through the provision of security services to end users and defend them against zero-day threats.”

“I'm excited that through F-Secure Network Control we will be able to take the solution that has been successful in Finland to help ISPs worldwide. We believe that the solution will generate a lot of interest in many markets,” said Petri Helenius, CEO of ROMmon.

Intel To Extend Manufacturing With Second 45nm 300mm Wafer Factory

Intel has said that it plans to build a new 300-millimeter (mm) wafer fabrication facility at its site in Kiryat Gat, Israel. The new factory, designated Fab 28, will extend Intel’s manufacturing leadership by producing leading-edge microprocessors in the second half of 2008 on 45 nanometer (nm) process technology. Construction on the $3.5 billion project, Intel’s second 45nm factory, is set to begin immediately.

“Intel is committed to widening its lead in advanced semiconductor manufacturing,” said Paul Otellini, Intel president and CEO. “Our manufacturing network is a strategic asset of unmatched scope and scale that gives Intel the ability to provide customers with leading-edge products in high volume.

Today’s announcement of a second 45nm high volume factory reaffirms that Intel platforms will contain the most advanced and innovative technology in the world for years to come.”

When completed, Fab 28 will become Intel’s seventh 300mm wafer facility. The structure will include approximately 200,000 square feet of clean room space. Over the next several years the project will create more than 2,000 Intel jobs at the site. The Israeli government is providing financial incentives for the new facility.

Intel currently operates five 300mm fabs that provide the equivalent manufacturing capacity of about eight older generation 200mm factories. Those factories are located in Oregon, Arizona and New Mexico in addition to Ireland where an expansion of Intel’s 300mm capacity in Ireland (Fab 24-2) is scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of next year. In July Intel announced plans to invest more than $3 billion to build another 300mm fab, Fab 32 in Chandler, Ariz.

Manufacturing with 300mm wafers (about 12 inches in diameter) dramatically increases the ability to produce semiconductors at a lower cost compared with more commonly used 200mm (eight-inch) wafers.

The bigger wafers lower production cost per chip while diminishing overall use of resources. Using 300mm manufacturing technology consumes 40 percent less energy and water per chip than a 200mm wafer factory. Intel’s 45nm technology, which will first be put in high volume production at Fab 32, will allow chip circuitry to be built at about half the size of today’s standard 90nm technology.

India, US agree to expand trade in high technology items, say officials

India and the United States on Thursday agreed on an action plan to
significantly expand trade in high technology as they prepared for
U.S. President George W. Bush's visit to New Delhi early next year,
officials said.

The areas identified for future cooperation included civil space,
civil nuclear power and high technology trade, said a joint statement
issued at the end of a two-day meeting of the India-U.S. High
Technology Cooperation Group.

The two sides also discussed steps to expand cooperation in
biotechnology, information technology and nanotechnology, the
statement said.

"By the time President Bush visits India, these initiatives would
illustrate the benefits of the strategic partnership between the two
countries and demonstrate their centrality to India's growth and
progress," India's Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran said.

Bush is expected to visit India in February or early March, David
Mulford, the U.S. Ambassador to India, told The Associated Press.

"The two delegations agreed to a detailed action plan that will
further promote high-tech cooperation," the statement said.

David McCormick, U.S. undersecretary of commerce for industry and
security, said defense trade may be the area with the most potential
for growth between the two countries. The two countries discussed
technology transfers, co-production, joint development and research.

McCormick said "only 1 percent of U. S. exports to India required a
license and 90 percent of license applications were approved in the
financial year 2005."

The two countries also discussed a space launch agreement that was
likely to be signed soon, Saran said.

India's first moon mission, which is not to be manned, is set for
2007. The U.S. Space Agency NASA plans to put imaging equipment aboard
India's spacecraft to study the moon's surface.

Nuclear power was part of the two countries' dialogue on energy, which
also covers oil and gas, clean coal technologies and nonconventional
energy sources, Saran said.

McCormick would meet Indian business leaders in Bombay, the financial
capital of India, on Friday before leaving for Washington.

Insulin Levels Drop With Progression Of Alzheimer's Disease, Linked To Tangles In Brain

Researchers at Rhode Island Hospital and Brown Medical School have
discovered that insulin and its receptors drop significantly in the
brain during the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, and that levels
decline progressively as the disease becomes more severe, leading to
further evidence that Alzheimer's is a new type of diabetes. They also
found that acetylcholine deficiency, a hallmark of the disease, is
linked directly to the loss of insulin and insulin-like growth factor
function in the brain.

The study, published in the November issue of the Journal of
Alzheimer's Disease (http://www.j-alz.com), is the first to look at
insulin levels early in the course of the disease. The authors'
previous work published earlier this year primarily focused on the
late stages of Alzheimer's.

"Insulin disappears early and dramatically in Alzheimer's disease. And
many of the unexplained features of Alzheimer's, such as cell death
and tangles in the brain, appear to be linked to abnormalities in
insulin signaling. This demonstrates that the disease is most likely a
neuroendocrine disorder, or another type of diabetes," says senior
author Suzanne M. de la Monte, a neuropathologist at Rhode Island
Hospital and a professor of pathology at Brown Medical School in
Providence, RI.

The study analyzed postmortem brain tissue of 45 patients with a
diagnosis of either normal aging or different degrees of Alzheimer's
neurodegeneration, termed "Braak Stages."

Researchers analyzed insulin and insulin receptor function in the
frontal cortex, a major area affected by Alzheimer's. They found that
with increasing severity of the disease, levels of insulin receptors
and the brain's ability to respond to insulin decreased markedly.

"In the most advanced stage of Alzheimer's, insulin receptors were
nearly 80 percent lower than in a normal brain," de la Monte says.

Researchers found two parallel abnormalities related to insulin in
Alzheimer's. First, insulin levels decline as the disease progresses.
Second, insulin and its related protein IGF-I lose their ability to
bind to corresponding cell receptors, creating a resistance to the
growth factors and thus causing cells to malfunction and eventually
die.

"This has important implications for treatment," de la Monte says. "If
you could target the disease early, you could prevent the further loss
of neurons. But you would have to target not just the loss of insulin
but the resistance of its receptors in the brain."

Researchers also offer an explanation for the acetylcholine deficiency
that is linked to dementia and has long been recognized as an early
abnormality in Alzheimer's. They found that insulin and IGF-I
stimulate the expression of choline acetyltransferase (ChAT), the
enzyme responsible for making acetylcholine. This discovery shows a
direct link between insulin and IGF-I deficiency and dementia.

"We're able to show that insulin impairment happens early in the
disease. We're able to show it's linked to major neurotransmitters
responsible for cognition. We're able to show it's linked to poor
energy metabolism, and it's linked to abnormalities that contribute to
the tangles characteristic of advanced Alzheimer's disease. This work
ties several concepts together, and demonstrates that Alzheimer's
disease is quite possibly a Type 3 diabetes," de la Monte says.

Earlier this year, de la Monte and co-authors provided the first
evidence that insulin and its related proteins are produced in the
brain and that reduced levels of both are linked to the late stages of
Alzheimer's.

They surmised that Alzheimer's is a complex neuroendocrine disease
that originates in the central nervous system, raising the possibility
of a new type of diabetes.

Experts Say Bioidentical Hormone Therapy Can Treat Hormonal Imbalances including PMS and Perimenopause

Experts Say Bioidentical Hormone Therapy Can Treat Hormonal Imbalances
including PMS and Perimenopause

For most 30-something women, worrying about hormonal changes is a
problem they don't think they'll have to face until they've developed
more than just a few grey hairs or at least had a grandchild. But
doctors say even women in their 30's can experience unpleasant
menopausal symptoms like mood swings, weight gain, brittle bones and
low libido during extreme PMS or perimenopause.

Perimenopause is the time in a woman's life when she is transitioning
from childbearing years to menopause, according to the World Health
Organization. During this time estrogen levels may drop by 40 to 60
percent and progesterone levels may fall to zero by the onset of
menopause.

"Don't be fooled by age. Women as young as their 30's can experience
severe mood swings, night sweats, low libido, vaginal dryness, weight
gain and tension or migraine headaches," says Dr. Paul Savage, founder
and chief medical officer of BodyLogicMD, a network of anti-aging
physicians specializing in treating male and female menopause with
natural bioidentical hormones.

"Like menopause, perimenopause and PMS are normal parts of a woman's
cycle and women will experience many of the same symptoms of
menopause, but there are natural ways to relieve these symptoms."

After the birth of her second child, BodyLogicMD patient Malissa
Mosak, 30 said she became a different person. Her mood swings were so
severe that Mosak says she didn't even recognize herself.

"I was out of control. Some days I was happy and felt like myself, but
most of the time I was a monster. My sex drive was non-existent. I
yelled at my husband all the time and no matter how much I dieted I
couldn't lose the baby weight," said Mosak. "I hated myself."

After months of questioning doctors who only recommended she go on
birth control pills or anti-depressants to control her mood swings,
Mosak started researching hormone imbalances.

Mosek discovered her symptoms were related to a severe case of
hormonal imbalance. Mosak was severely low on progesterone and
estrogen, and high on testosterone.

Like many women, Mosak said she was eager to find relief for her
symptoms, but was confused by the myriad of studies on hormone
therapy, estrogen and the Women's Health Initiative.

"I was so excited about the natural part. I rushed right out and
bought a book that talked about (bioidentical hormones)," says Mosak,
who was relieved to find that BodyLogicMD used only natural,
bioidentical hormones.

Made from yam, soy and natural plant extracts, bioidentical hormone
therapy is a natural and safer alternative for treating those
unpleasant PMS, perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms.

"It is important for women to understand the difference between
synthetic hormones, like the ones used in the Women's Health
Initiative, and bioidentical hormones," says Savage. "Synthetic
hormones act as toxins in the body because they are not metabolized
the same way human 'bioidentical' hormones are metabolized."

Bioidentical hormones are exact replicas of hormones that occur
naturally in the body, says Savage. In addition to relieving
unpleasant PMS symptoms, natural hormone therapy can actually protect
against obesity and other diseases, including cancer and Alzheimer's.
Bioidentical hormones need to be prescribed by a physician and made at
a quality compounding pharmacy.

In treating women with hormonal imbalances such as PMS and
perimenopause, BodyLogicMD physicians closely monitor hormone levels
to replace them with what is missing or low. Patients' symptoms are
closely monitored to ensure for the proper dose.

After three months on bioidentical hormone therapy, Mosak said she
noticed a significant difference in her mood swings and sex drive.

"I could not believe the difference I felt. I was happy, loving, and
energetic. It was a miracle. My weight started to drop off and by
Christmas I had lost 11 pounds and was back to the old Annie," said
Mosak. "Natural bioidentical hormone therapy saved my marriage, my
kids, my world."

Vodafone launches push mobile e-mail service

British mobile phone major Vodafone is introducing a business-oriented
"push" mobile e-mail service and plans to market it alongside similar
services from Blackberry and Microsoft, which it already sells.

The service, Vodafone Business Email, based on telecom software maker
Visto's push e-mail software, has a server functioning almost similar
to that of Blackberry's enterprise server. Microsoft's mobile e-mail
service is supported by Microsoft Exchange and mobile flavours of
Windows. It is expected to be in push-mode soon.

Vodafone Business Email and Blackberry Connect are priced at 28 pounds
per month for e-mail, calendar and contacts. The services are
delivered through a corporate server with a firewall.

The company also sells a pure e-mail version using an ISP POP e-mail
account, which comes at prices between 10 pounds and 15 pounds a
month. The Vodafone service will offer the corporate server free till
the end of next May.

It includes a new device management function, giving a remote view of
the state of the device to the administrator. It shuts down a lost
handset and manages roll-out and software installations.

Analysts find that the two services are on par except for the devices
they support. The Vodafone Business e-mail supports Microsoft and
Symbian smartphones, while the Blackberry service supports the
familiar Blackberry clients, and recently some non-Blackberry devices,
including the Nokia smartphones.

Vodafone said it will continue to push the Blackberry service. It said
the Blackberry service is intended for larger companies and those
established with Blackberry. The Vodafone service will extend that to
smaller companies and can be added to existing phones.

The Microsoft Windows Mobile service using scheduled ActiveSync is
designed for companies that use Exchange 2003 and Windows Mobile
smartphones.

Vodafone UK's director of enterprise marketing Mark Bond said working
with Visto, the company has developed a product to meet the both the
complex requirements of larger companies as well as the need of
smaller organisations and individuals to add easy to manage email to
their phone of choice.

China Defends Handling of Toxic Spill

China's government defended its handling of a chemical plant explosion that sent a 50-mile-long toxic slick of river water coursing through a major city Thursday and blamed the disaster on a subsidiary of a state-owned oil company.

The benzene slick on the Songhua River in northeast China flowed into Harbin days after the city of 3.8 million people shut down its water system, setting off panicked buying that cleared supermarket shelves of bottled water, milk and soft drinks. The government said it would take about 40 hours for the chemical to pass the city.

Residents stand on the banks of the Songhua River in Harbin, in northeast China's Heilongjiang province Thursday Nov. 24, 2005. The city is digging 100 new wells to provide extra water while its water supply system is shut down. City authorities shut down the water supply due to contamination of the Songhua, from which the city gets its water, after an explosion in a chemical plant in a city up river.

A government official said local leaders were warned of the chemical threat after the Nov. 13 blast that killed five people, and no one was sickened.

"It was handled properly," Zhang Lijun, deputy director of the State Environmental Protection Administration, told a crowded news conference in Beijing. "Authorities acted that day, and not one person has been sickened."

The government did not publicly confirm that the Songhua had been poisoned with benzene until Wednesday, 10 days after the explosion. But Zhang said local officials and companies stopped using river water immediately after being told.

The disaster has highlighted the environmental damage caused by China's sizzling economic growth and the complaints that the secretive communist government is failing to enforce public safety standards.

As if to underscore the problem, another chemical factory explosion Thursday in southwest China caused officials to warn residents against drinking river water there because of fears of benzene poisoning, state media reported. The blast at the Chongqing factory killed one worker.
With its huge population, China ranks among countries with the smallest water supplies per person. Hundreds of cities regularly suffer shortages, and protests over water pollution have erupted in rural areas.

Downstream from Harbin, authorities in the Russian border city of Khabarovsk complained they had not received enough information on the threat. The Songhua flows into the Heilong River, which flows into Russia, where it is called the Amur River.

But Zhang said Beijing has shared information and might set up a hot line with Moscow. He suggested complaints were premature, saying the chemical would take two weeks to reach Russia.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said officials briefed the Russian Embassy twice this week.

"The Chinese side attaches great importance to the potential impact and harm caused by the pollution on our neighbor Russia," he said.

Nitish gets down to business, says work without fear

Bihar's new Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed top officials to do their job without fear and restore the rule of law in the state as a priority. One of the chief minister's first meetings after being sworn in Thursday was with the top brass of the administration during which he said his government was there to govern and nothing else, said an official."

In the first meeting itself, he told us that the administrators should work without fear or favour," added another police official.

Sources in the state government said Nitish Kumar, who was Friday visiting his mother in Kalyanbigha village, 50 km from here, has told Chief Secretary G.S. Kang and police chief Ashish Ranjan Sinha to control crime without any delay.

He reminded the officials that he came to power promising good governance and would have to deliver on it to change the image of the benighted state.

While ensuring that the law and order situation improves in the state, Nitish Kumar is also grappling with political problems of allocating portfolios between his Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Indonesia told it can make Tamiflu antiviral

Swiss drug maker Roche AG has given the go-ahead for Indonesia to make
a version of the Tamiflu antiviral drug in order to fight a looming
avian flu crisis, the country's health minister said Friday.

Siti Fadillah Supari said her department would get the raw materials
from South Korea.

Eight Indonesians have died since July after contracting the H5N1
virus from infected poultry.

Tamiflu is designed to block the flu virus from escaping from an
infected cell and spreading further in the body, if taken within 48
hours of getting the flu.

Indonesia is home to 220 million people, and has said in the past it
wants to have enough Tamiflu on hand to treat 11 per cent of its
population.

A Roche spokeswoman told Reuters news service that the drug
manufacturer does not actually hold a patent for Tamiflu in Indonesia.

"If they want to produce [it], they can go ahead," she said. "There is
no need for them to get a licence."

Concerns about the H5N1 virus were given new life Friday with the news
of a new outbreak among hundreds of chickens in Indonesia's Aceh
province.

So far, people coming down with the disease have become infected from
contact with infected poultry, but world health experts fear the virus
will evolve so that it is easily transmitted from person to person.

That could create a worldwide outbreak that has the potential to kill
millions of people.

So far, about 65 people have died after contracting the H5N1 virus.

Since 1943 when the first Executive MBA was imparted at the University
of Chicago until now the AACSB created a consultative council to track
the evolution. Series of International Meetings were held mainly in
America, and ESADE Business School became the first European host.

November 25, 2005 (Madrid, Spaid ) -- ESADE has helped organise the

as an essential training programme for enhancing managers abilities
and professional performance.

In 1981, the American Association of Colleges and Schools of Business
International (AACSB International) created a consultative council to
track the evolution of Executive MBAs, and in 1987 the first this
series of international meetings was held in Toronto. Next year s
meeting will take place in Baltimore.

ESADE's EMBA is aimed at senior managers capable of adapting to new

Maxell to offer 300GB holographic discs in late 2006

Many thanks to Pete from SVP Communications for giving us the heads up
on this latest news from the Maxell camp which was posted on the The
register earlier today.

"Maxell will ship its first holographic storage system late next year,
the company has pledged.

The storage specialist will initially offer a removable system based
on 300GB media and capable of transfering data at a rate of 20MBps,
Maxell said. However, the company said the technology, designed by
InPhase Technologies, is capable of achieving 1.6TB per disk - and
that's uncompressed capacity - with a 120MBps bandwidth.

InPhase was founded in December 2000 by Lucent, and has been working
on holographic storage - in which data is encoded as a 3D pattern
written and read by laser beam - ever since. In addition to the
colossal storage capacity, InPhase promises a data archive life of
over 50 years, not much different to the longevity claimed by most
optical media makers - a CD-RW for instance will typically retain data
for 20-100 years, depending on which manufacturer you speak to.

InPhase isn't the only company promoting holographic storage. Japan's
Optware - which in July won $14m in funding from four companies, one
of which was Toshiba; it also has backing from Intel Capital - is
working on a DVD-sized holographic disc is says will hold more than
1TB of data with a throughput of 1Gbps.

The format is dubbed HVD - Holographic Versatile Disc - and Optware is
already pushing a 200GB HVD-RW disc type through the HVD Alliance, an
organisation supported by Optware, Fuji Photo and half-a-dozen or so
Japanese chemicals companies. (r)"

Well,it will make Blu ray and HD DVD seem like a very small format if
what Maxell say is true. So who needs Blu ray and HD DVD when you can
have Holo technology! Of course, it won't be cheap and support may
take some time to be fully implemented. but if you ask me, Holo's the
way to go and I can't wait!
